Story to Stage

Using classic and contemporary stories as a guide, students will use their bodies, voices, minds, and imaginations to bring these tales to the stage. Actors will explore bringing these famous tales to life and experience the collaborative process as they create their own original stories based on famous characters introduced throughout the class.

Welcome to Theater

In this introductory class, students will explore character creation and storytelling which is at the heart of acting for the stage. They will experience a wide variety of activities focused on introducing basic theater concepts such as ensemble, actor's tools, sharing the stage, dialogue, and action! This class introduces the young actor to a variety of techniques within the world of theater.

Kinder Theater - Dramatic Journeys

Young Actors will travel the world and jump through time with their imaginations as their guide. A professional Teaching Artists from Compass Rose Theater will teach the young actors to use drama, music, and movement to charm snakes in India, fight a bull in Spain, run with dinosaurs, dance through the Renaissance, travel west in covered wagons, and maybe even make it into the future to live on Mars! Each class presents a new destination and time period!

Create a Play

In this exciting program, students will write and perform a play of their own creation. Lead by a professional Teaching Artists from Compass Rose Theater, the students will create a story-line, build characters, and cast their own play. Students will gain confidence and fundamental life skills as they practice teamwork, and building an ensemble.
